TAKUMA KIDS KART CHALLENGE2014
Date: November 24, 2014
Location: Sportsland SUGO, Shibata-gun, Miyagi Prefecture
Immediately after the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, "With you Japan" is a reconstruction area support project started by Takuma Sato, saying, "Let's support children who do their best without being overwhelmed by the earthquake!" In 2014, the fourth year, we held a kart event at Sportsland SUGO in Miyagi Prefecture with the theme of "enjoying the whole family."
On the day of the event, about 130 families from elementary and junior high schools in Yamamoto-cho, Watari-gun, Miyagi Prefecture, took two large buses and came to the venue. Also, as a first attempt, we are looking for people who agree with the idea of With you Japan through takumasato.com and participate in the charity. We held an event with about 50 people who applied for this.
This day was blessed with warm weather that I couldn't think of in late November. Most of the participants seemed to be riding a kart for the first time, and listened enthusiastically to the "Kart course by Takuma Sato" held at the beginning. Next, we finally meet with a real cart. This time, we have prepared three types of carts: a super kids cart that can be used by children with a height of 100 cm, a kids cart for slightly larger children, and an adult cart. Of these, the super kids cart and kids cart protect the string attached to the back of the cart. We started by bringing people to experience "running, turning, stopping" while ensuring safety, then moved to the west course, which is also an international kart course, and everyone under the leadership of Takuma Sato. We all enjoyed running the cart.
At lunchtime, Glico curry provided by Glico, who sponsored the event, was served. It seems that everyone's energy has been revived with the delicious curry.
Well, the afternoon time trial that came. It was impressive that even small children aged 4 and 5 were motivated and no one got off the machine on the way. Since we started the race with 5 cars each, some kids showed us a race-like battle, and cheers came from the venue. In addition, there was a heartwarming scene in which parents run while receiving cheers from children.
And the finale is a demonstration run of the cart driven by Takuma himself. Everyone was amazed at the outstanding speed and overwhelming technique, and the venue was caught in a whirlpool of excitement.
Participants from the reconstruction area said, "Thank you for holding the event every year as the number of reconstruction area support events has decreased four years after the earthquake." In addition, a charity participant commented, "I felt frustrated that volunteers couldn't do it easily, so I'm really happy to be able to participate with my children and to have a chance to interact with the people in the reconstruction area as a parent and child." I received.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the participants, everyone involved in the event management, and the supporting companies. I'm really thankful to you.
"With you Japan" will continue to support children in the reconstruction area. We would like to ask all of you who agree with this idea for your continued cooperation.
